Integral in the growth of the solar industry, Fronius inverters include innovative technology to ensure ease of installation as well as maximum earnings security…
Fronius high quality inverters allow for a reduction in emissions and decrease the reliance on non-renewable energy production. The Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) for Photovoltaic systems (PV) is guaranteed for 25 years and Fronius inverters are always able to work efficiently during this period with zero scheduled maintenance, ensuring the best returns on any PV system. Manufactured in Austria by Fronius International, the efficient, reliable and high yield inverters make Fronius UK Ltd one of the leading suppliers in the field of solar electronics. Through constant research and development Fronius has created highly functional mains-connected inverters, which interact optimally with all solar modules. With a range of inverters, from the 1.5 KW Fronius IG 15 to the 60KW Fronius CL 60, every size array can be accommodated. Fronius is also the first leading inverter manufacturer to have G59/2 certification for its products, saving installers approximately £1800.
FIT for sustainability
The Feed-In-Tariff is a government-backed scheme which guarantees to pay people for producing their own energy. Paying you for the electricity you generate and use (Generation Tariff), as well as the electricity you generate and sell back to the grid (Export Tariff). Available since 1st April 2010, a minimum payment is guaranteed for solar systems up to 5MW, aiding the Governments target of 15 per cent renewable energy by 2020. With tariffs for new installations guaranteed at up to 41.3 p/kWh, people are able to make a return on investment of 5-8 per cent per year. Within the months of lower ambient light, Fronius’ products flourish due to their MIX™ concept – the optimised masterslave system. The MIX™ system is an extension of the master-slave process that has the same advantages in terms of partial load efficiency without the disadvantages relating to operating hours and failures.
Intuitive technology
The name, Master Inverter X-change (MIX™) more or less explains how the system works: one power stack (the master) is responsible for coordination and controls the use of the other power stacks (Fronius has extended this principle for up to 15 power stacks). The control software assigns the role of the master to the power stacks alternately. This work-sharing method reduces the number of operating hours of the individual power stacks and improves yield in partial load situations.
All power stacks are essentially equal and can take on the functions of both the master and the slave, each one having its own operating hours counter. Every time the inverter is restarted (usually every morning), the control software checks which power stack has the lowest number of operating hours and allocates it the master role (for that day). As soon as the PV output exceeds a certain value (depending on the nominal output of the inverter), the master switches on a slave. The operating hours are checked again the following morning and – depending on the number of operating hours already worked – a different power stack becomes the master. With regard to stability, this system therefore sets the highest standards. After all, if the master develops a fault, a slave can take over its role and the inverter can continue to supply electricity. In other words, when a master fails there is little or no drop in yield. If the failure occurs in the afternoon, on cloudy days or in the winter, the power stacks that are in good working order can take on all the work so that no kWh are lost.
Maxiumum flexibilty
The ingenious processor control combined with the powerful HF transformer extracts the maximum energy yield from all types of modules, found in the Fronius IG. The advantages are obvious: it makes the inverter extremely small, light and very powerful (only 9kg), not to mention extremely safe due to its inherent electrical isolation. Combined with the phase-shift process, to reduce switching losses, the inverter is a powerful device, which stands out by virtue of the best energy yields and maximum flexibility in use.
The automatic transformer switching function of the Fronius IG Plus ensures greater earning. This enables not one, but three equal efficiency peaks, resulting constant efficiency over a wide input voltage range. In comparison: the efficiency of inverters without transformer switching declines steadily with an increasing input voltage. Devices without a transformer only have one efficiency peak.
The connection area and power modules are installed separately on both the Fronius IG Plus and TL. The Fronius IG Plus has a power plug system where connection area is attached to the wall as normal, then the power module is simply plugged in. The Fronius IG TL requires no time consuming cabling. When service is needed, the connector remains on the wall and the DATCOM slot remains onsite – all settings and configurations remain untouched.
The Fronius IG TL, the first of its kind, easily provides inverter updates and downloads via a standard USB memory stick, preventing the additional expense of purchasing an external datalogger. The inserted USB stick collects system information during inverter operation which can then be uploaded to a PC, analysed and archived using the Fronius Solar.access software. When a software update is available, it can be downloaded from the Fronius website onto the USB stick and then simply inserted into the inverter, updating with the touch of a button.
Market leaders
The Module Manager ensures that the Fronius IG inverters remain at the maximum power point (MPP), with fast and exact MPP tracking to ensure that you obtain the most power out of each ray of sun light. This is especially important for thin layer modules whose MPP can be more difficult to track.
Innovative ventilation concepts where cooling air is drawn in on the back of the inverter and routed through a closed channel over the heat sink. This prevents disruptive ambient factors such as dust or moisture contacting the circuit board. At the same time, the components are kept cool and the inverter operates with an absolute consistency.
When service is required, power modules can be removed and replaced easily via the plug & play principle and drawer design of the Fronius CL. This ensures the highest serviceability and the fastest reaction times on the market. Performed by certified Fronius Service Partners; qualified installers who are able to repair onsite without invalidating warranties. This means that customers usually have their inverters repaired or replaced within 24 hours ensuring the highest customer satisfaction.
Fronius inverters are developed to be the quality leaders of the market; quality in the product, its installation and service through new technologies and qualified technical support, making them the ideal inverters for the UK market.
